He was predeceased by: his parents, Chester and Lottie (Clyburn); his wife Doris (O'Donnell); his son James; and his siblings, Lornie, Everett, James, Helen MacLennan, Christina Matheson, Adeline Smith, Shirley Hallett and Winifred Cleversey.
He is survived by: his daughter Christina Downey (Tim); his grandchildren, Courtney Downey, Cory Langley, Anthony, Nicole, Charlene and Santana; and his siblings, Reggie (Darlene), Harbour, Rollie (Ella), Lillian Henderson and Margaret Burnes of Greenfield, Mass.. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.
