She was predeceased by: her parents, John Gates and Cora Gates (Miller); her husband Hiram "Heidie"; her children, Bernie, Hiram and Nancy; her siblings, Arthur, Harold "Huck", Henry and Annie Dauphinee; and her sons-in-law, Hughie McIsaac, Bobby Eagles and Lester Dujay.
She is survived by: her children, Kathy Bourgeois (Brian) of New Glasgow, NS, Beverly McIsaac (Warren) of Joggins, NS, Darlene Hicks (Jim) of Lower Maccan, NS, Laura Williams (Malcolm) of West Brook, NS, Barb White (PJ) of Amherst, NS, Bruce Mills of New Glasgow, NS, David of Joggins, NS., Billy of Joggins, NS. and Perry of Joggins, NS.; her siblings, Margie of Amherst, NS, Cora "Mamie" of Amherst, NS, Doreen of Amherst, NS and Jimmy of Kamloops, BC; her son-in-law Victor Bourgeois of Lower Cove, NS.; and her pet Patches. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Jones Family Funeral Centre (70 Church St, Amherst, NS B4H3B2). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 18th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
Donations in Vera's memory may be made to the LA Animal Shelter, River Hebert/Joggins & Area Community Center Food Bank, or a charity of your choice.
