He was predeceased by: his parents, Ference Kovac and Erzibet Kovac (Gergelj); his son Sasa Kovac; and his brothers, Lajos Tot (Magada), Pista Kovac (Lidija) and Ferika Kovac (Zorica).
He is survived by: his wife Olga (Devic); his son Marin Kovac (April); his grandsons, Luka and Mason Kovac; and his sisters, Rozalia Poznic (Branko) and Erzika Mikovic (Ivan).
