He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence "Ted" Ward and Susan "Susie" Ward (Hines); and his siblings, Crandall, Lindsay and Grace.

He is survived by: his wife Wilma Mary Illsley; his daughters, Debbie Borden (Lionel) of Lower Onslow, NS, Wendy Coolen (Pat) of Ross Corner, NS and Mary Lou (Mark); his grandchildren, Gerry Coolen (Melissa), Chris Borden, Tara Borden (Rob Phillips), Mike Coolen (Andrea), Greg Coolen (Sarah), Kelsey Urquhart (Matthew Darby) and Nick Urquhart (Dayton); and his siblings, Emma Corkum, Bernice Kempton, Dianna DeAdder, Don Ward (Sharon) and Bill Ward (Donna). He is also survived by eight great grandchildren.

Donations in memory can be made to the Valley Regional Hospital Foundation, VON or Palliative Care.
