He was predeceased by: his parents, Leslie Ells and Ida Mae Ells (Schofield); and his sisters, Hazel Smith, Ruby Atwell and Phyllis Henderson.

He is survived by: his wife Gertie; his children, Christine Smith (Lindsay), Highbury, Bryce (Diane), Black River, Marilyn Kaizer (Vaughan), Scotts Bay and Kenneth; his grandchildren, Rebecca Rand, Mark Smith, Matthew Smith, Evan Ells, Leslie Ells, Shane Kaizer, Nicholas Ells and Megan Ells; and his great grandchildren, James Rand, Adam Rand, Sara Rand, Curran Smith, Arvin Smith, Emma Ells, Levi Ells, Scarlett Kaizer, Dawson Kaizer and Tate Ells.

Donations in memory may be made to Parkinson Society of Nova Scotia, Black River Cemetery, or a charity of your choice.
