He was predeceased by: his parents, Ronald MacDonald and Annastasia MacDonald (Hawley); and his siblings, Keith MacDonald (Monie), Dianne Melrose and Kim MacCormack.
He is survived by: his wife Theresa Anne MacDonald (Berthier); his children, Alana Gates (Jeff) and Neal MacDonald (Gail); and his grandchildren, Nicole MacDonald, Tyler Gates and Nicholas Gates.
Visitation was held on Thursday, June 19th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the L'Ardoise Holy Guardian Angels Parish (182 Chapel Cove Rd, St. Peter's, NS B0E1S0). A funeral Mass was held on Friday, June 20th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Holy Guardian Angels Parish (182 Chapel Cove Rd, St. Peter's, NS B0E1S0). A reception was held on Friday, June 20th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM at 20 St Peters Fourchu Rd #110, Lower L'Ardoise, NS B0E1W0.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Nova Scotia, the Strait Richmond Palliative Care Society or to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
