He was predeceased by: his parents, Frederick Thornton and Ruth Thornton (Lunn). He is survived by: his wife Marion (Harris); his children, Brian Thornton (Lori-Ann), Mark Thornton (Jennifer) and Susan Knox (James); his grandchild Shawn Thornton (Trinity); his children, Ryan Knox, Derrick Thornton, Sara Knox, Trevor Thornton, Amber Thornton and Paige Thornton; his stepgranddaughter Felicia Townsend (Barrington); his great grandchildren, Everett Thornton and Jasper Thornton; and his sister Joanne Thornton.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 23rd 2025 at 1:30 PM at the Knox United Church (567 Sackville Dr, Lower Sackville, NS B4C2S4).
If so desired, donations in John's memory to Knox United Church or Ivy Meadows Continuing Care Centre are welcomed.
