He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Alexander "Alex" Murchie and Marie Rose Delima "Mary" Murchie (Boudreau); his former wife Mary Murchie (Buckley); his daughters, Annette Devine (Gillis) and Catherine "Cathy" Graham; his sister Doreen Hickey (Eldon); and his brother-in-law Clement Babin.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia "Pat" Murchie (Short); his stepdaughters, Diane Marshall (Walter) and Debbie Parsons (Floyd); his grandchildren, Kristopher Gillis (Ashley), Oshawa, Kory Gillis (Sarah), Melissa Schofield (Chad) of Middle Sackville and Meghan Graham (James Webb) of Middle Sackville; his stepgranddaughters, Lori of Lower Sackville, Nicole of Lower Sackville and Sydney Marshall of Lower Sackville; his great grandchildren, Erik Gillis, Gavin Gillis and Everly Schofield; his son-in-law Richard Graham (Lesley); and his sister Julia Babin. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 9th 2026 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the St John Vianney Church (4 Beaver Bank Rd, Lower Sackville, NS B4E1G3).
In lieu of flowers donations to a charity of choice or an act of kindness towards others would be appreciated.
