She is survived by: her mother Maureen Ann (Phipps); her husband Brian Dakin; her daughters, Kaitlyn and Hannah; her stepdaughter Tara; her children, Alexis, Bella and Shannen; her brother Graham Duhme (Michelle); her siblings' children, Rafer Duhme (Gemma), Laurel Duhme (Chris) and Shea McCormick; her brother Martin Duhme (Rhonda); her siblings' children, Kathryn Veinot (Catlin) and Jason Moar-Miller; and her cousins, Alison and Christine.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Karen's name to Parkinson's Society Nova Scotia.
