He was predeceased by : his parents, William Cummings and Elizabeth Cummings (MacEachen) of Mabou Harbour; his granddaughter Molly Sarah; and his siblings, John Robert, Roddie, Martha and Anna.

He is survived by : his wife Josephine (Gillis); his siblings, Juanita (Brampton), Dan Archie (Jane) of Mabou, Edmund (Celia) of Mabou, Jimmy (Barbara) of Mabou and Jerome of Inverness; his children, Cindy Negus Ottawa (Michael), David Halifax (Melissa), Lisa Rodney Yarmouth (Vance), Darren Port Hawkesbury (Tracey) and Dwayne Oshawa (Jennifer); and his grandchildren, Caitlin, Kylie of Ottawa, Kennedy, Logan of Halifax, Lucas, Grace of Yarmouth, Georgia, Lainey, Myca, Callie of Port Hawkesbury, Jake, Brett, Thomas John (T. J.), Cooper and Max of Oshawa. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
