He was predeceased by: his parents, Russell Sweet and Lillian Sweet (Brown); his friend Doug Thompson; his adoptive parent Shania Purdie; his wife Dorothy Ripley of Amherst; his sisters, Helen Smith and Judy Carter (Roland); and his siblings-in-law, Bill Smith (Helen) and Joan Ripley (Wentzell).
He is survived by: his friend Avard Bentley; his children, Natalie Moyes (Ian) and Gordon Sweet (Maureen Nolan); his grandchildren, Gordon, David Moyes, Gina Sweet and Julie Nolan-McCarthy; his siblings-in-law, Roland Carter, Wentzell Ripley, Dwight Mollins, Cheryl Mollins and Raelene Skaling; and his pet Luna. He is also survived by 11 nieces and nephews and their families, many friends.
