It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary Alida Hughes-Kelley of Middleton, Nova Scotia, who passed away on June 6, 2024, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Carey Marshall Thorne and Mary Anne Thorne (Chute); her husbands, James Hughes (Jim) and Lorimer Kelley; her siblings, Dorothy Thorne and Stephen Thorne; and her daughter-in-law Lorna Smith.
She is survived by: her children, Brian Smith (Andrea) of Calgary, AB, Andrew Smith of Hinton, AB, Marianne Illsley (Frank) of Nictaux, NS and Jane Hughes (Pierre Tremblay) of Ottawa, ON.; and her family Jim. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and nine (soon to be ten) great grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to the Heart of the Valley Nursing Home Recreation Fund or charity of choice.
