She was predeceased by : her parents, Harry Mac and Freda Pearl Durling (Smith); her husband Johannes Patrick Hoogerwerf; her son David Kennith Hoogerwerf; and her brothers, Edwin Harry and Vaughn Carrol Durling.

She is survived by : her children, Karen Lynn Hoogerwerf-Shearer of South Williamston and Michael Robert Hoogerwerf of Margaretville; and her grandchildren, Mythia Elyse Hoogerwerf Shearer of Halifax, Michael Aiden of Margaretville, Garrett Johannes of Margaretville and Liam John Hoogerwerf of Margaretville.

Donations in memory may be made to Nictaux Cemetery, an animal shelter of choice, Heart and Stroke Foundation of NS, or Cottage Cove District Wharf Society.
