He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Laybolt and Alice Laybolt (Foley); his wife Judith (Ryan); his brother-in-law Brian Gordon; and his brother Milton (Lorna).

He is survived by: his children, Robert (Brandi) of Musquodoboit Harbour, Duane (Natasha) of Musquodoboit Harbour and Trina Carroll (Ellis) of Elmsdale; his grandchildren, Nick, Kayla, Kaitlyn, Christopher, Austin and Anthony; and his siblings, Catherine Gordon, Bonita Day (Melvin), Wilson (Donna) and Earl (Christina). He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held on Friday, September 4th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the St. James Cemetery.

Donations may be made to the Eastern Shore Ground Search and Rescue in his memory.
