He was predeceased by: his parent Stewart Dow; his wife Florence Dow (Kempt); his sons, Stewart and Gordon; and his siblings, Bessie Dow, Leona Lowther, Ella McIver, William Dow and Beulah Brown.

He is survived by: his parent Janie Dow (Cotton); his children, Brenda Mitchell (Jordan) of Nappan, NS, Ruth Dow (Shayne Speight), Amherst, Clair Dow (Bobbie-Jo Matthews) and Riverside; his grandchildren, Michael, Sharon, Brenda, Leslie, Samantha and Colby; his siblings, Viola Gilbert of Athol, NS, Frank Dow, Laura Brown (Donnie), Carmen Dow (Barb) and David Dow (Rachael); and his pet Cindy.
