She was predeceased by: her parents, John Joseph and Margaret Jane Daye Gero (Elms); and her siblings, Clara Chaplin (Elms), Mary Daye, Mildred Gero, John Daye and Russell Gero.

She is survived by: her son Jason Gero (Deborah Armstrong); her granddaughter Kamiah Hay (Que); her sister Patricia Cooke; and her goddaughter Shella Kirton. She is also survived by several other nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Sunday, September 6th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 2:50 PM at the Second United Baptist Church (330 Washington St, New Glasgow, NS B2H3M1). A funeral service was held on Sunday, September 6th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the same location.

Donations may be made in memory of Emily to Aberdeen Health Foundation Palliative Care Fund (https://aberdeenhealthfoundation.ca).
