He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Wilbert and Pearl Elizabeth Shrum (Bell); his wife Florence Ann "Tiny"; his daughter Edna; and his brother-in-law Ronald.

He is survived by: his daughter Florence Silver (Fraser MacLean); his granddaughter Kayla Shrum; his great grandchildren, Dominic, Xander and Jensen; his stepgrandchildren, Donald MacLean and Jamie MacLean; and his sisters, Joan MacLeod, Brantford, Mildred MacLean (Paddy), Dundass, Ont, Katheline Fortune and Riverton.
