He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Joseph and Anna Mae Bates (Kenny); his parents-in-law, William James and Evelyn Chisholm (Cunningham); his sister-in-law Karen Vyse (Chisholm); and his niece Anita Vyse.
He is survived by: his wife Catherine Bates (Chisholm); his children, Adam Bates (Tara) and Jennifer Dobson (Billy); his grandchildren, Jack, Logan Bates and Marla Dobson; and his siblings, Pat Henderson (Tom), Mary Bates (Roger Kennie), Wally Bates (Joyce) and Kathy Bates.
A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, October 2nd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church (390 High St, New Glasgow, NS B2H2X7).
