He was predeceased by : his parents, Lewis McArthur and Rona Winnefred MacIntosh (Cottie); his son Sheldon DeYoung; and his siblings, Neilla MacLeod and Raymond MacIntosh.

He is survived by : his children, Lorraine DeYoung and Tommy Atwell (Nicole); his grandchildren, Kyla Kirwan, Riley Hillier, Madison Hillier and Noah Hillier; his sisters, Susan Russell and Laurie MacIntosh; and his brother-in-law Allan MacLeod (Mountville). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
