He was predeceased by: his parents, William Young and Margaret "Peggy" Young (Forbes). He is survived by: his significant other Sylvia Cameron; his stepson Aaron Cameron; his daughters, Tanya of North Carolina, Christy of North Carolina and Dena of North Carolina; and his siblings-in-law, Kathryn Campbell (Ian), Annie Garrison (Tim) and Don Fraser (Laurie).
