He was predeceased by : his parents, Clarence Newell and Myrtle Newell (Brannen); and his siblings, Carol, Cleo, Gloria and Clarence "Buddy".

He is survived by : his wife Carol (Nickerson); his children, Donna, Roger, Robert, Raymond and Richard; and his brother Roger. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren.
