She was predeceased by: her parents, Hugh Gillis and Mary Gillis (MacDonald); her husband Angus "Buster" Bates; her son Barry Joe; and her siblings, Angus, John, Ray, Donnie, Collie, Ella, Effie, Gen, Rita and Thelma.
She is survived by: her children, Donna (Wilbur), Martin (Rosemary), Terry (Charlene) and Gary (Michelle); her daughter-in-law Wanda; her grandchildren, Tara, Lisa, Susan, Greg, Jaclyn, Danielle, Kaitlyn, Corey, Cody, Jaret, Mark, Faith and Rohan; and her great grandchildren, Connor, Cohan, Catherine, Madelyn, Tylen and Ellis.
