He was predeceased by: his parents, Angus MacDonald and Elvia MacDonald (Murray); and his siblings, James, Michael MacDonald, Rachel Long, Theresa Dempsey and Mary Gushard.

He is survived by: his sister Kathleen Elva Griffin; his nieces, Tammy and Caroline Rudderham; and his stepniece Nancy Jones. He is also survived by other nieces and nephews.
