She was predeceased by: her parents, James Gear and Gertrude Gear (Boutilier); her former husband Robert Slade; her boyfriend Junior Riley Morris; her son John Charles Slade; and her siblings, Edna, Ada, Dorris, Pauline, Bill, John, Gordon and James.
She is survived by: her children, David, Eric and Wendy Sampson (Alan); her grandchildren, Bonnie (Alton) and Bev Sampson; her great grandchildren, Alyssa, Makayla MacNeil and Layton Pridgeon; and her sisters-in-law, Kay Gear and Ann Morris.
Donations in Gertie's memory are encouraged to be made to the Northside Community Guest Home.
