Ian Buchanan Booth Obituary
On April 22nd, we have lost a brother, a son, an uncle, and a brilliant, singular man. After a devastating battle, Ian Buchanan Booth passed away in Nova Scotia.
Ian graduated from Dalhousie University with a BSc, MBA and later BSc in computer science. He was a rockhound and champion of Nova Scotian mineral resources. Ian authored book, developed apps, and guest lectured, inspiring many with his knowledge of geology, and with the unmistakable spark of someone who delighted in understanding what he found.
Ian lived most of his life in downtown Halifax and cherished many happy times in Montreal and Ottawa. He also loved the wilds and towns of Nova Scotia, particularly Cape Breton, the south shore and Fundy coast.
He was predeceased by his father, John Booth, and leaves behind his mother, Wendy Booth; his sister, Heather Booth; his nieces and their children.
Ian had a roguish independence, a quick mind, and a way of moving through the world on his own terms.
He will be deeply missed by his family, his friends, and those he inspired to wonder and wander a little further.
