He was predeceased by: his parents, William O'Neil and Kathleen O'Neil of Dartmouth; his brother Roger; and his brother-in-law Bill Ringrose. He is survived by: his wife Beverly O'Neil (MacNeill); his sister Susan Ringrose; his sister-in-law Pat MacNeill; his children, Michael O'Neil (Marie Christine), Patty Gosse (Shane) and Wendy Stewart; his grandchildren, Richard, Georgia Gosse, Laura, Patrick Stewart, Isaac, Seth, Emma and Naomi O'Neil; and his great grandchildren, Emily, Arthur and Teddy. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Donations in Paul's memory may be made to the Pictou County Food Bank, VON or Canadian Red Cross. And in his own words, usually sung with a grin and an air guitar just to get a laugh from his grandkids: "…and I can't wait to get on the road again.".
