He was predeceased by : his parents, Bill Carr and Theresa Carr (Davidson); and his siblings, Alice Grady (James), Florence Howden (Ralph) and Charlie (Myrtle).

He is survived by : his wife Edith (White); his children, Debi Purcell (Blaise), Denise Morrow (Stephen), Pomquet, Darren Carr (Sharlene McNutt) and Donna Carr (Howard); and his grandchildren, Ryan, Emily, Connor, Renee, Owen, Jordan, Dylan, Liam and Weston.

Memorial donations may be made in memory of Alton to Children's Wish Foundation or R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home, Antigonish.
