He was predeceased by : his adoptive parents, Frank Downard and Mary Downard; his wife Ann; his parents-in-law, Stanley and Isabel MacKinnon; and his siblings-in-law, June MacKinnon and Regeant Deschenes.

He is survived by : his daughters, Lorrie (Evanston), Bonnie (Howard), Cindy (Bedford), Robin (Iqaluit) and Katelyn; and his grandchildren, Robert, Cassie, Heather, Kara, Abby, Josh, Matthew and Jack.
