He was loved and cherished by many people including: his mother Nora Warner; his wife Bertha Surette (Cottreau); his children, Rhonda Smith (Robert) of Wedgeport, Shelly Muise (Mark) of Yarmouth and Shawn Surette (Sylvia) of Gavelton; his grandchildren, Tessa and Dawson Surette; his siblings, Glendon Surette (Gail) of Melbourne and Wanda Saulnier (Charles) of Abram's River; his father Edward Surette; his stepfather Edward Warner; and his siblings, Hazen Surette and Beverley.

Memorial donations may be made to the Eel Brook and District Fire Department or the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation.
