He was predeceased by: his parents, Nora Augusta (Nickerson) and Lawrence Henry Blades; his wife Dot; his stepfather Eugene Blades; his siblings, Leslie, Patricia Graham (Patty) and Mary Mercer; and his brother-in-law Peter Boutilier.
He is survived by: his son Calvin Blades; his son-in-law Greg Guy of Bedford, N. S.; his nephew Peter Goodwin (Amanda) of Jordan Branch; his siblings, Loran "Bim" (Joyce), Anthony (Florence), Henry and Darlene; his brother-in-law Jimmy Graham (Barb); and his friend Cheryl Butler. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 16th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Sandy Point Lighthouse Community Center (1586 Sandy Point Rd, Shelburne, NS B0T1W0).
