He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur T. Higgins and Mary Ellen Higgins (Cullen); his sons, John, Joseph and Gerard; and his siblings, Evelyn Higgins, Eileen Tompkins, Edith MacLean, Gerald and Lorne Higgins.
He is survived by: his wife Marguerite Higgins (Chisholm); his children, Louise Côté (Al), Sean Higgins, Sydney, Kathleen MacDonald (Shaun), Michael Higgins (Helen), Cole Harbour and Kerry Higgins (Gerri); his grandchildren, Carolynn Dubé (Bryan), Marc Côté, Laura, Kieran Higgins, Kaitlin Thistle (Daniel), Brèagh MacDonald (Ryan Cordy), Michael, Shannon MacDonald, Stephanie Higgins and Kathleen Higgins (Tyler Harding); and his great grandchildren, Bren, Theo, Shea, Graeme, Neil and Lorne.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the An Cala, Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital and their volunteers or the St. Vincent de Paul Society, North Sydney.
