He was predeceased by: his parents, John William "Jack Rabbit" and Kathleen O'Rourke (Reynolds); and his niece Janine. He is survived by: his siblings, Kevin (Julia), John (Gracie), Michael (Anita) and Betty Melanson (Blair) of Sydney; and his siblings' children, Stacey, Natasha, Kevin, John, Jason, Reilly, Corson, Michelle and Jonathan Melanson.
Visitation was held on Thursday, July 3rd 2025 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Pier Community Funeral Home (1092 Victoria Rd, Sydney, NS B1N1L1). A funeral Mass was held on Friday, July 4th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Holy Redeemer Church (1135 Victoria Rd, Sydney, NS B1N1L3).
In lieu of flowers, donations in Francis's memory may be made to a charity of your choice or to a local wildlife or conservation organization.
