He was predeceased by: his parents, Alec Elman and Annie (Mandelbaum); and his siblings, Murray and Roberta. He is survived by: his wife Joan; his daughter Marlene (Bruce Skip Walker); and his granddaughter Ariel (Ethan Goldsmith).

A funeral service was held on Friday, May 8th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Sydney Memorial Chapel (49 Welton St, Sydney, NS B1P5R3).
