He was predeceased by: his parents, Hugh R MacSween and Annie MacSween (Morrison); his siblings, Michael, Mary and John; his brother-in-law Frank MacKenzie; and his parents-in-law, Merrill and Genevieve Lewis.

He is survived by: his wife Cheryl (Lewis); his children, Colin (Sarita), Ainslie MacLean (Daniel) and Liam (Kayla); his grandchildren, Sophia, Priya, Kiran, Callan, Rose and Annie; his siblings, Agnes MacSween (Les), Margaret MacKenzie and Sandy MacSween (Liz); and his siblings-in-law, Anita MacSween, Cheryl MacSween, Graham Lewis (Donna) and Jerry Lewis (Rosemary). He is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Hector's generous nature, memorials may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, the Sister Rita Clare Music Scholarship at capebretonchorale.com or a charity of choice.
