He was predeceased by: his parents, Amos MacNeil and Tina MacNeil. He is survived by: his wife Margie (Peck); his children, Alanna MacIntyre (Brian) and Mike MacNeil (Erin); his grandchildren, Matthew, Cameron, Andrew MacIntyre, Sloane, Fallon and Keelin MacNeil; and his extended family, Helen MacPherson, Stuart (Leona), Billy (Joanne), Marion, David MacNeil, Loretta Hynes (George) and Diane. He is also survived by many nephews and nieces.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim's memory may be made to Diabetes Canada to support his granddaughters, Sloane and Keelin, who have been affected by this disease.
