It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of James Hugh Slade (Sydney, Nova Scotia), who passed away on September 18, 2019, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was loved and cherished by many people including: his grandfather Jim; his parents, John Slade and Nora Slade (Bonaparte) of Sydney; his wife Marcella; his children, Cheryl St (Michael) of Sydney, Carolynn Ratchford (John) of Sydney, Robert Slade (Jackie) of Sydney, Darlene Mackenzie (Kevin) of Sydney and Lorelei Coombes MacCormick (Blaise); his son-in-law John Mackenzie; his grandchildren, Cheryl Lynn, Sean, Tyler, Robbie, Evan, Tracy, Corey, Kyle, Barbara, Shelby, Kendra and Adam; his sisters-in-law, Nettie Slade, Doreen Slade and Gloria Cook; his brother Edward; his sister-in-law Genevieve Cook; his uncle Greg Bonaparte; his former wife June Slade (MacDonnell); his brother Sonny; and his parents-in-law, Joseph and Bessie Cook. He was also cherished by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Donations in Jim's memory may be made to the Horizon Achievement Centre.Cremation has taken place and funeral mass will be held on Monday, September 23rd at 10 a.m. in the Parish of Saint Leonard, Mt. Carmel Ave with Father Ray Huntley officiating, followed by a luncheon at the Parish Centre, 310 Convent St, New Waterford.
