It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Joan Marie (Muise) MacVicar of Sydney, Nova Scotia, who passed away on July 9, 2025, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Stella Muise and Alexander "Sandy" Muise; her husband John MacVicar; her children, Kathy Francis-Sams and Steven Francis; and her brothers, Charlie, Earl and Wayne.

She is survived by: her grandchildren, Lindsey Palmer (Devon), Alicia Francis (Kyle), Madeline, Angela Bartlett (Adrian), Steven and Jordan Francis; her great grandchildren, Maisie, Briar and Hamish; her siblings, Sandra MacLean (Wilfred), Carol MacDonald (Stewart), Arthur Muise (Mary), Sandy Muise and Walter Muise (Lorraine); and her son-in-law Greg Sams. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Every Woman's Centre or Transition House.
