He was predeceased by: his parents, Briar "Spud" Thompson and Evelyn Thompson (MacKillop). He is survived by: his children, Kim Sampson (Keith Peters) and Matthew Thompson (Andrea Paolella); his sister Brenda Tabor (Terry Latham); his grandchildren, Melanie Sampson (Justin MacKinnon) and Riley Sampson; and his great grandchildren, Allie and Addyson.

A celebration of life was held on Tuesday, September 8th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Ashby Legion.
