He was predeceased by: his parents, Harris Reid and Doreen Reid (Williams); and his siblings, Irene MacLellan (Lorne), Lena Evans (Lou), Marjorie MacQueen (Roger), Neil (Margie), Wilfred, Cecil, Mildred and Melvin.

He is survived by: his wife Frances (Powell); his children, Angela Reid (Sydney), Melvin (Karen), Everett (Kathy), Sydney and Darren (Michelle); his sisters, Evelyn Carver, Sydney and Velma (Richard); his sister-in-law Helen Reid (Sydney); his grandchildren, Shanda, Chandler, Steven, Emma, Hayden, Cooper and Lily; and his great grandchild Summer.

A funeral service was held on Thursday, August 21st 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Sydney Memorial Chapel (49 Welton St, Sydney, NS B1P5R3).
