She was predeceased by: her parents, Peter Benteau and Lucy Benteau; her husband Norman; and her siblings, Emma (Casmir Harnett), Melinda (Bertram Harnett), Susan (Martin Fitzpatrick), Imelda, Mercedes, Michael Benteau (Joyce), Leonard Benteau (Donna) and Peter Benteau (Edna).

She is survived by: her children, Shirley Morris, Valerie MacIvor (late Joe), Charlotte Harrington (John) and Susan Gillis (Danny); her sisters, Louise Lyall (Ralph) and Lucy Hodge (late Maurice); and her grandchildren, Donald MacIvor (Kim), Heather Morris, Kym Morris, Cliffton Gillis (Cheryl), Ryan Gillis (Erin), Brandon Gillis (Lisa) and Erica Chiasson. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.

Donations in memory of Mary may be made to the St Alban's Memorial Fund or the Alzheimer Society Nova Scotia.
