He was predeceased by: his parents, William "Bill" Waye and Elizabeth Waye; his son Nigel Waye; his significant other Evelyn Waye; his siblings, Wallace, Bern (Theresa), Nelson (Margaret), Donald (Snookie), Sean (Theresa), Ann Wall (Donald), Elizabeth Waye MacPhail and Gail Anderson (Ben); and his sisters-in-law, Rose Parsons (Emerson), Dorothy Collins (Martin), Gertrude Moore (Johnny) and Betty Raeburn (Raymond).
He is survived by: his friends, Byron MacPhee and Joe Vigneau; his son Joe Waye Jr. (Janice); his brothers, Red Mike and Eddy MacDonald; his friend Ed MacKillop; his children, Nelson Waye, Martin Waye (Crystal), Jacqueline Peterson (Thomas), Jill Waye and Sydney; his grandchildren, Emily Waye MacSwain (Stephen), Misty Hallaron (Gianni), Brooke Rose Waye, Nigel Hollaran and Joseph Waye (Jessica); his great grandchildren, Stella, Rose MacSwain, Georgina and Ameilia Jo Waye; his siblings-in-law, George, Nigel Holbeche, Ellen Rose (Charlie) and Diane Murchison; Leo Doublett, Gerard Dunn and Ethel Miller. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 10th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. Theresa's Church (381 Whitney Ave, Sydney, NS B1P5R3).
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Cape Breton Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton County would be greatly appreciated.
