He was predeceased by: his parents, Stanley Tynski and Helen Tynski (Wojick); and his siblings, Helen "Sis" Gouthro, Florie Currie, Frances "Cookie" Nearing, Stanley "Stash" and Michael "Mike".

He is survived by: his wife Anne (MacKeen); his children, Joanne Tynski (Bruce Barber) of Saint John, NB, Kathi Tynski (Blair Kibyuk), Raymond (Cathy) and Stephen (Sharlene); and his siblings, Rosaline Tynski, Raylene MacAskill (Bobby), Bobby (Donna) of Sydney and Eddy (Doreen) of Sydney. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton County.
