It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Rita Carmel MacDonald (Sydney, Nova Scotia), who passed away on October 23, 2019, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her husband Jim; her parents, Kate Mary and John Joseph Gillis; and her siblings, David, Peggy and Florence.
She is survived by: her children, Jim (Kathleen), Brenda (Jim), Michael, Bruce (Sheila), Peter (Oralee) and Andrew (Tania). She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to Street Connection Halifax, Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton, or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
