Carol Miller wrote a sympathy message

“The world was a better place because of Tyrone. He was a thoughtful, caring person and Flora was the light of his life! He inspired so many in his quiet supportive way - a humble man who never aspired to the spotlight. He was an honoured member of the Cape Breton Sport Hall of Fame who, as long as he was able, came to support new inductees. Tyrone will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and his community. Carol Miller”

Brad Ross wrote a sympathy message

“One of the most charismatic, nicest and humble people I have ever met. A real gentleman! I worked with Tyrone for years at the CB Correctional Facility and we shared the love for the sweet science of boxing. I ran the boxing club in Sydney for years and Tyrone would always attend our amateur boxing events with the other Cape Breton boxing legends. He made it a point to phone me on my birthday every year and chat about the local up and coming talent. Time for the final 10 count champ! Brad Ross”

Paul MacDougall wrote a sympathy message

“I met Tyrone about 20 years ago while researching Cape Breton boxers. Though a Canadian lightweight champion in the 1960s, Tyrone would rather talk about other boxers and trainers, than himself. He was a humble man and true gentleman. He inspired and helped dozens of young boxers over the years in the Sydney area. He will be sorely missed. Condolences to the family. Paul MacDougall”
