She was predeceased by: her parents, John Callaghan and Annie Callaghan (Grimes); her husband Dennis "Dennie" Burgess; her brothers, Harold Callaghan and Jackie Callaghan; her siblings-in-law, Sheila Callaghan and Charles Waller; and her friend Lyle Stull (Carroll).
She is survived by: her children, Denise Burgess, Charlene Burgess, William "Willie" Burgess (Carrie), Nathan Burgess (Leona) and Valley; her grandchildren, Connor MacCoul, Austin MacCoul, Kilah MacCoul, Callaghan Burgess, William Burgess, Robert Burgess, Dorie Burgess, Owen Burgess, Nolan Burgess, Kaleigh Burgess, Richard Burgess and Riley Burgess; her siblings, Joan Reid (George), Ann Higgins, Teresa Hatcher (Jim), Pius Callaghan, Vernon Callaghan (Barb) and Paul Callaghan; and her sisters-in-law, Joan Callaghan and Katherine Waller. She is also survived by 21 nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Sunday, January 4th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Varner Funeral Home (55 Young St, Truro, NS B2N3W6). A funeral service was held on Monday, January 5th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church (669 Prince St, Truro, NS B2N1G5).
