He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Cavanaugh and Lottie Cavanaugh (McNutt); his wife Agnes Madeline (Purvis); and his siblings, Gail Reid, Florence Smith, Larry Cavanaugh, Leonard Cavanaugh (Claudia Langille), Delmar Cavanaugh and Layton Cavanaugh.

He is survived by: his children, Deanna Cavanaugh (Jeff Clements), Peter Purvis (Anne) and Patti Purvis; his granddaughter Kathleen Corbett (Scott Walker); his child Kristyn Corbett; his sisters, Marilyn Gilby and Dora Walker; and his siblings-in-law, Colleen Whidden, Margaret Cavanaugh, Donald Reid and Wayne Smith. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
