She was predeceased by : her parents, Lawrence Laughlin Weir and Margaret Mae Marshall (Weir); her stepparents, Joan Weir (Davis) and Gardner Marshall; her parents-in-law, Margaret MacKenzie (Nicholls) and Russell MacKenzie; her brothers-in-law, Colin MacKenzie and Keith MacKenzie; and her grandson Joseph MacKenzie.
She is survived by : her husband Kenneth MacKenzie; her children, Scott MacKenzie (Natalie), Sherri MacKenzie (Hubert Nicholas), Sydney and Margaret Grant; her grandchildren, Kamden, Trinity, Xavier, Tyler and Mathew; her sisters, Holly Smeltzer (Ray), Valley, Francene Graham (Lewis) and Eastville; her uncle Owen (Carolyn); and her siblings-in-law, Wayne MacKenzie (Beverly) and Irene Heasman (Roger). She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia to help find a cure for dementia or to Cedarstone Enhanced Care for their continued support for other families.
