He was predeceased by: his parents, James A. Thompson and Robina Thompson (Wilson); his sister Catherine "Kay" Clark; and his brother-in-law Bob Clark. He is survived by: his wife Loreen (Day); his daughters, Danalee Stone (Tim) and Cathy Thompson (Alvin MacKenzie); his grandchildren, Matthew, Marcus, Michelle Stone, Amber and Emily Thompson; his sibling's children, Robena Stewart (Rudy) and Sandy Clark (Sheila); and his sister-in-law Erma Chenell. He is also survived by brothers-in-law Merle Day (Marion); Bernard Day (Dora); George Day (Mary); and several nieces and nephews.

Donations in his memory may be made to St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, St. Bees Anglican Church, or a charity of one's choice.
