He was predeceased by: his parents, William Newman (Bill) and Rita Newman (Hendsbee); his siblings, Billy, Stephen and Linda; and his close friend Joyce Coley.

He is survived by: his girlfriend Diane Hartling; his girlfriend's children, Wanda (Rob), John and Carol (Timothy) of Westville; his siblings, Ken (Dawn), Brenda (Sal) and Karen; and his close friends, Brian Parker of Fall River and John MacDonald of Halifax. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
