He was predeceased by: his parents, Norman Underwood and Gladys Theresa Mumford (O'Leary); and his brother Ormal. He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth "Betty" (Smith); his daughters, Natalie Stevenson (Alex) and Jennifer MacPhee (Clinton); his grandchildren, Gavin Stevenson, Caitlin Stevenson, Jill MacPhee and Ashley MacPhee; his siblings, Reg (Laura Mae) and Emily Hines; and his sister-in-law Pauline Mumford. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
